The hotel is nestled amongst woodland on a hill, just outside Chester, offering a heavy Victorian style ambience. The rooms boast a lovely roll-top bath, a comfortable bed, and a disabled toilet, though they could be more modern in decor. The service, highlighted by the niceness of every staff member and the lovely welcome drink, was excellent. The location, surrounded by a tree-lined hill and minimal in amenities, is serene and perfect for relaxation. The dining experience, with great views over the castle lawns and a continental option included, was delightful. The facilities are satisfactory with room for improvement in modernization.

While the dining experience is delightful with great views over the castle lawns, the parking being about 200 yards away can be a slight inconvenience.
